National latte art champions will use Anfim SP450 grinders when they take to the world stage in Gothenburg, Sweden this week, following the announcement that Anfim has taken over as Official Grinder Sponsor. World Coffee Events’ Nordic World of Coffee kicked off on Tuesday, with World Brewers Cup, World Coffee Roasting, World Cup Tasters, World Coffee in Good Spirits (WCIGS), as well as World Latte Art Championships (WLAC), all taking place over the three days. The 36 latte art champions will compete on Anfim’s SP450, with Anfim replacing Mahlkoenig as grinder sponsor, starting this year until 2017. “This is a big honour for the Italian espresso grinder manufacturer and it will be an exciting challenge for Anfim, sponsoring a world competition for the first time,” Anfim said in a statement. The Official Espresso Machine of both WCIGS and WLAC is CMA Astoria’s Plus4You, which is replacing Dalla Corte’s DC Pro. For the event, Astoria created a limited edition machine with 12 custom frames featuring animations drawn by four different artists. “This special homage to the art of espresso will also be at the center of a live performance that will animate the stage area during the competition,” said Stefano Secca, Astoria Commercial Director. Cafetto has replaced Urnex as the Official Cleaning Product across all five events. The Australian company also became the sponsor of the World Barista Championship this year until 2017. There are 56 nations taking part in the competitions, which WCE is expecting over 12,000 people to watch via its Livestream broadcast. Astoria is also sponsoring the official WCE after party, where the competitors will have the chance to let their hair down once the championships have wrapped up. The Nordic World of Coffee show is being held at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden from 16 – 18 June.
