Identical twins Alan and Gary Keery are getting ready to open the UK’s first ever cereal café in Brick Lane, London’s East, on 10 December. The brothers are catering to all cereal tastes having sourced more than 100 varieties of the breakfast in a box from the US, France, Australia, South Africa and South Korea. “The idea came when we were on a night out and had a craving for that cereal fix we used to get as kids,” said Gary Keery, in his Indiegogo campaign video. “But unfortunately it is impossible to find anywhere in London that sells this in a café setting – that was the birth of The Cereal Killer Café.” The Kerry brothers have designed the café to stir up cereal nostalgia with discontinued cereal boxes decorating the shelves and television playing Saturday morning cartoons. The pair will brew Allpress coffee, which was established in New Zealand in 1986 and has been roasting beans just around the corner from Brick Lane since 2010. The café will serve 30 different types of milk to accompany the breakfast bowls, including rice, soy, almond and oat. Those with a serious sweet tooth can even choose chocolate and strawberry flavoured to go with their rice bubbles. The Cereal Killer Café will also cater to the health conscious with muesli options on the menu, or for those who don’t believe in breakfast rules, the choice of more than 20 toppings such as Oreo and marshmallows.
