World Coffee Events (WCE) has announced it is taking the World Latte Art Championship (WLAC), World Cup Taster’s Championship, World Coffee Roasting Championship, and World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship to Hotelex in Shanghai, China in 2016. “WCE feels strongly that these events will prove a major success in China with the support of the local specialty coffee community,” said Cindy Ludviksen, Managing Director of WCE, in a statement. The competitions will be held over four days at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, taking place from 29 March to 1 April. “We are very honoured to be the host of WCE competitions and we will go all out to provide the best stage for you,” said Wang Mingliang, Founder and Director of UBM Sinoexpo, in the statement. Hotelex attracts exhibitors from the coffee, tea, bakery, baking machine equipment, dessert, and beverage industries. The WLAC has been taking place since 2005, since then it has seen first place titles awarded to countries including Germany (current champion Christian Ullrich), Sweden (Johann Carlstrom), Russia (Victoria Kashirtseva), Japan (Hisako Yoshikawa, Haruna Murayama), Australia (Jack Hanna, Scott Callaghan, Con Haralambopoulos), Greece (Christos Loukakis) and Belgium (Peter Hernou). The 2016 World Barista Championship and World Brewers Cup will take place at the SCAE’s World of Coffee Event in Dublin, Ireland from 23 – 25 June, 2016. Founded by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe and the Specialty Coffee Association of America, WCE is an event management organisation registered in Dublin, Ireland.
