Coca-Cola has announced that its iced tea brand Gold Peak is set to enter the ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee market in 2017. While Coca-Cola is already the market leader in the world’s largest RTD coffee market – Japan – this will be its first foray into the market in the US. Gold Peak is already a major player in the bottled iced tea category, but is planning to launch the range of RTD coffees and tea lattes in the first quarter of 2017. It is estimated that the RTD coffee market in the US is worth around US$2 billion per year.
