Coca-Cola has announced plans to sell a line of gourmet roasted and ground Arabica beans in Brazil under the brand Café Leao. While it is well known as the world’s largest coffee producer, Brazil is also the second-largest consumer of coffee in the world, after the USA. The company will partner with Brazilian trader and roaster, Tristao, who will source and roast the beans. The new brand, which will be rolled out strategically at first, with plans to make it available across Brazil by January, 2017, will be pitched at the fast-growing specialty coffee segment.
