World coffee exports dropped by 1.1 million bags in February compared to a year prior, the International Coffee Organisation reported on 3 April. World coffee exports amounted to 8.63 million bags in February 2013, compared with 9.73 million in February 2012, the ICO said in its monthly statistical report. Despite the drop in the month, the ICO noted that total exports in the first five months of coffee year that runs from October 2012 to February 2013 increased by 9.6 per cent to 46.49 million bags, compared to 42.41 million bags in the same period in the last coffee year. Robusta coffee continues to experience the greatest growth in exports. In the 12 months ending February 2013, exports of Arabica totalled 66.96 million bags compared to 65.60 million bags last year; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 46.61 million bags compared to 39.22 million bags the year prior.
