World coffee exports increased by 1.31 million bags in October 2012 compared to a year ago, the International Coffee Organisation (ICO) reported on 1 December, in its monthly statistics report. Coffee exports amounted to 8.88 million bags in October 2012, compared with 7.57 million in October 2011. Robustas accounted for 3.5 million bags of total exports. In the 12 months to October 2012, exports of Arabica continue to drop while Robusta exports rise. Exports of Arabica totalled 66.19 million bags compared to 67.5 million bags last year; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 43.05 million bags compared to 37.01 million bags a year ago. Total exports in this first month of coffee year 2012-13 increased by 17.3 per cent, the ICO reported, in comparison with the first month of last coffee year.
