Coffee machine companies help Coffee Kids raise funds for coffee growers

Nuova Simonelli, Coffeega and Coffee Kids teamed up at this year’s Specialty Coffee Association’s World of Coffee Event in Vienna, Austria to raise funds for coffee growers.   Nuova Simonelli, manufacturers of quality espresso machines, donated a Musica Lux espresso machine earlier this year in order to raise funds during the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s trade show in Portland, Oregon. Following on from the success of this first donation, the company offered a second machine to be won by coffee lovers in Vienna. Coffeega Korea donated an Alley 600 cold-drip coffee maker.  The donation of the two machines enabled Coffee Kids to raise more than US$1000 for projects that help improve the lives and livelihoods of coffee growing families and communities. We are so appreciative of the support that Nuova Simonelli and Coffeega have shown Coffee Kids this year,” said Elisa Kelly, Coffee Kids’ Development Liaison, in a Coffee Kids statement. “We are blown away by the generosity that Nuova Simonelli and Coffeega have shown in offering up these machines to help us raise funds and awareness of issues at origin.” Ben Presland, the lucky winner of the Musica in Vienna, roasts coffee for the Tate Galleries.  He said he plans to display (and use) his new Musica Lux in his roastery in Lambeth, London. Willem Huisman, winner of the Coffeega Alley 600, said: “As the winner of the cold drip station I would like to thank you very much. But of course the best thing is that a lot of people have taken part of the lottery for your beautiful projects.” In the statement, Coffee Kids expressed its thanks not only Nuova Simonelli and Coffeega for their dedication to investing in the future of coffee but also to all our supporters who participated in the prize draw.
