The first edition of Café World Summit (CWS) will take place from 20 to 23 March at San José Convention Center in Costa Rica. All actors in the coffee value chain will participate in the international congress, with a focus on the coffee grower.
“The CWS Technical Congress 2024 will offer deep-dive analysis of crucial issues, addressing the implications and challenges facing the coffee industry globally. The Scientific Committee, composed of leading experts in the field, will hold panels on burning topics such as Green Deal, Resilience in Coffee Cultivation for Climate Change, Soil Regeneration, Latest Advances in the Science of Coffee Cultivation and Regenerative Agriculture Applied to Coffee Cultivars,” says Mariano Vargas, coffee producer and Co-Founder of the CWS.
On the first day of the event, coffee producers will visit more than 14 hectares of coffee demonstrations. This will be followed by two days of discussions with national and international panellists addressing issues in coffee cultivation. Panellists will also debate topics such as technology transfer, production, and trending trackers.
“The development of professionals within the value chain is essential for the creation and dissemination of coffee culture and thus support the growth of consumption in countries of origin,” says Noelia Villalobos, Executive Director of the Fine Coffee Association of Costa Rica.
The CWS will also host the National Infusion Championship on 23 March.
“[We’re] very excited to bring back the championship and develop it within the framework of the CWS. The Infusionists Championship has great appeal within the barista guild. This will be the third championship and discipline that we will hold this year together with the Costa Rican Barista and Cup Tasters Championships,” says Villalobos.
