The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is inviting industry leaders to take part in a workshop to better understand the effects of gender inequality on coffee production, in Sumatra, Indonesia from 22 – 26 May. Set in the mountains of the Aceh Province, events will kick-off with a pre-workshop Cultural Intensive day, to communicate the reality of life for local coffee farming communities. Participants will include 35 men and women coffee producers from the Western Sumatran Highlands. The following two-day workshop will seek input from participants on how the industry can collectively support gender equity within the supply chain. The Indonesian workshop is part of a year-long collaborative research initiative spearheaded by CQI. Anyone wishing to take part can register to do so via the website: www.coffeeinstitute.org
