United Kingdom (UK) specialty roaster Dark Woods Coffee has taken home the first ever Better Business award at the Great Taste Golden Forks 2024 ceremony in London.
The award, which recognises the values-driven approach to business, community and environment, was debuted at the ceremony on 10 September at Battersea Arts Centre.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have won this new Golden Fork award for Better Business,” says Ian Agnew, Director of Dark Woods Coffee.
“We always do our best to consider the impact we have on the environment, our local community, and the global coffee-growing community; and to strive to keep making positive changes. That’s why this award means so much to us, knowing that it recognises our efforts as a business, not just the quality of the coffee we produce.”
Dark Woods Coffee, based in Yorkshire, purchases coffee direct from producers or through long-standing buying arrangements with estates and specialty exporters. The company donates 2 per cent of its annual turnover to local projects and coffee-growing communities.
As part of its sustainability drive, the coffee roaster utilises electric vehicles and compostable or recyclable packaging to reduce its environmental impact.
The Great Taste Golden Forks received more than 14,000 applicants and presented 16 awards to some of the leaders of the UK’s food and drink industry.
New awards for Sustainability and Better Business were added this year to recognise the efforts made by companies to care for their communities, teams, environment, and supply chains while making quality products.
