Another Nespresso competitor lawsuit, this time against the use of a man who looks like George Clooney, has been thrown out of court. An Israeli court has ruled that Espresso Club’s use of Clooney’s lookalike in its advertisements was not a breach of intellectual property law, Israeli business newspaper Calcalist reported this week. According to the paper, Nespresso asked the court to award it for compensation for civil damages and damages to its reputation. The Tel Aviv District Court ruled against Nespressso, ordering the company to pay US$14,825 in court costs and lawyers fees, the newspaper reported. Calcalist claims that the commercials, which is part English part Hebrew, make fun of the famous actor who has become synonymous with the Nespresso brand. Click here to watch the ad
