Bali-based Expat. Roasters has announced the opening of its fifth store.

The new store in Juanda International Airport Surabaya, East Java, is the latest addition to the roaster’s series of venues and follows the success of its third and fourth openings in Graha Famili, West Surabaya, and Jakarta Mori Building, Sudirman, Central Jakarta.

“We are thrilled to bring Expat. Roasters to Juanda International Airport. Our mission is to provide high-quality coffee experiences to travellers, ensuring they start their journey on a positive note. The expansion to Juanda is a significant step in our goal to make our specialty coffee accessible to more people across Indonesia,” says Expat. Roasters Founder and CEO Shae Macnamara.

The Juanda International Airport store will offer the brand’s newly launched cold-brew cans to cater for travellers on the go. The company has also curated an extensive menu and offers croissants, toasties, and an array of snacks. The new store is located in the lobby drop zone of the Terminal 1A departure at the airport and is designed to offer a space for travellers that is practical, convenient, and inviting.

“Collaborating with Expat. Roasters and Sydney-based X plus O Design Studio, we created a space that embodies the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation. The design of the Juanda International Airport store reflects a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, providing a welcoming environment for travellers,” says Wilson Harkhono, Principal Architect at WHAstudio.

Established in Bali in 2016 by Australian Shae Macnamara, Expat. Roasters is committed to bringing high quality coffee blends to the Indonesian market and prides itself on sourcing over 95 per cent of its Arabica coffee beans from the country.

To continue to grow its presence, the brand plans to open six new outlets in 2024, with two stores set to open in East Surabaya and Hokky Surabaya Supermarket. In August, the company aims to launch a store at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport departure terminal, followed by additional openings in Medan and Makassar towards the end of the year.
