Cerrado Coffee Growers Cooperative (Expocacer) has surpassed the mark of one million sacks of coffee received in its warehouses in September 2023, before the end of the harvest. This represents 77 per cent of the entire 2022 crop.
“Good results come at a significant time for Expocacer, which has just celebrated its 30th anniversary. The cooperative, which exports to over 30 countries on five continents, expects to ship more than 600,000 sacks by the end of this harvest,” says Simão Pedro de Lima, Superintendent Director of Expocacer.
The expectation is that this number will reach an even higher level. For the cooperative, this milestone is the result of the tireless work of its members and the resilience of the Cerrado Mineiro region.
Cerrado Mineiro represents 10 to 15 per cent of Brazil’s coffee production and 30 per cent of what is produced in the state of Minas Gerais.
The cooperative is an active participant in this journey, sharing with the world not only a product but also cutting-edge coffee farming. According to Expocacer, each coffee bean that passes through Expocacer’s facilities is more than a commodity; it is a symbol of dedicated families and a strengthened community. It is the daily and passionate effort of local producers that drives the region, and this passion imparts authenticity and quality to the coffees produced in Cerrado Mineiro.
“For us, this achievement means much more than just numbers. Each harvest is unique and carries with it inspiring stories, unwavering dedication, and the strength of a community passionate about what they do,” says Pedro.
