Expocacer (the Cerrado Coffee Growers’ Cooperative) in Brazil has reported a record 41 per cent increase in coffee exports in 2024 compared to 2023.

In 2024, more than 550,000 60-kilogram bags were reportedly sold on the foreign market, at an equivalent turnover of approximately 840 million reais (US$139 million).

For the domestic market, sales totalled more than 870,000 60-kilogram bags, equivalent to one billion reais (US$166 million), for a total revenue in 2024 of approximately 1.9 billion reais (US$305 million).

“At Expocacer we work continuously to offer high quality coffees, which is the result of the commitment and dedication of our producers,” says Ítalo Henrique, Expocacer’s Commercial Director.

“Recently, we have taken important steps to strengthen our international presence, with the opening of commercial representations in South Korea and the United Kingdom, as well as a logistics hub in the United States […]. These actions have been decisive in increasing our competitiveness, optimising operations and boosting exports, allowing us to reach new markets and establish strategic partnerships of great importance.”

In a statement, Expocacer said the coffee market is also on the rise due to the growing culture of coffee consumption among younger populations, as well a growing demand for sustainable products.

In 2024, the cooperative ensured shipments were compliant with the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). It also established a sustainability protocol, ECO By Expocacer, which it says is recognised by the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) as equivalent to the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, with a second-party guarantee.

In November 2024, Expocacer completed its first shipment of coffee via low-carbon emission sailing ship in what was said to be “an unprecedented milestone in sustainable logistics of the coffee supply chain”.

“The growth in the number of conscious consumers has been one of the main factors behind the increase in our exports,” says Simão Pedro de Lima, CEO of Expocacer.
