Flexicon has releases the Flexi-Disc Sanitary Tubular Cable Conveyor for fragile bulk foods and non-foods. The sanitary conveyor allows rapid wash down of the system between production runs. The sanitary conveyor uses high-strength polymer discs affixed to polymer-coated stainless steel cables to move fragile products. The discs, which slide within the stainless steel tubing during conveying cycle, evacuate at the end of the cycle to minimise waste. All material outlets, inlets and tubing are fabricated of 304 or 316 stainless steel with quick-disconnect covers. Cleaning accessories can be attached to the Flexi-Disc cable to allow sanitisation of the system, minimising downtime between changeovers. Clear inspection tubing can be used in any straight run to ensure the correct fill percentage during conveyor operation, and the cable and disc to be monitored during wash-down. The conveyor is suitable for friable bulk food and nutraceutical products, as well as contamination-sensitive chemical products. Modular system components also include drive wheel housings, tension wheel housings, and metered and non-metered inlets. Discharges with and without valves can be combined to move materials horizontally, vertically or at any angle. The sanitary conveyor is offered as a stand-alone system, or fully integrated with upstream and downstream equipment.
