Organisers of the GCR Symposium, taking place in Melbourne on 14 May, have announced the first line-up of speakers. Headline presenters will include Salvatore Malatesta, Owner of one of Melbourne's top specialty coffee businesses the St Ali Group; David Griswold, CEO of United States-based specialty green bean traders Sustainable Harvest; and Nolan Hirte, the founder of one of Melbourne's most iconic cafés Proud Mary. Other confirmed speakers include Andres Latorre, the Managing Director of one of Australia's top traders of specialty coffee Latorre & Dutch; Maja Wallengren, an internationally-acclaimed independent coffee analyst and GCR contributor; Toby Strong, the Founder and Managing Director of Australia's first in-country producers of Nespresso compatible capsules; Trent Knox, General Manager of Coffee Capsules for iconic Italian roasters Lavazza, and Santiago Pardo, Director Asia for one of the world's most recognised producer associations the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation. These speakers will be taking part in a fresh new format for the GCR Symposium, that will see a series of presentations followed by vivid panel discussions, on topics including direct trade, the business of specialty coffee, coffee capsules, and coffee prices.
