Celebrated Panamanian coffee farm Hacienda La Esmeralda has announced its annual auction will take place on 22 August this year.
Hosted in partnership with M-Cultivo, the online event, titled 20 years of Esmeralda Geisha: A Tribute to the Panama Highlands, will mark two decades since the discovery of Hacienda La Esmeralda’s prized Panama Geisha coffee.
“This year’s auction theme represents the diversity of life on our farms. The emergence of the Geisha variety has allowed us to invest in the preservation of the native flora and fauna that surrounds our coffee. We hope to continue this tradition for decades to come,” says Alexandra Peterson, fourth generation Hacienda La Esmeralda producer.
“Celebrating 20 years of Geisha is a momentous occasion for us. Our journey has been one of growth and learning. Today, as we look back, I am proud of our team and the community we have built together.”
Registration for the auction is now open and attendees will have the chance to bid on Esmeralda’s top-performing Geishas of the season. There is also an opportunity to purchase a sample set before the auction takes place.
Located in the volcanic highlands of Boquete Panama, Hacienda La Esmerelda has cultivated coffee for decades. Considered to be the pioneers of Panamanian Geisha, the farm first showcased its coffee in the Best of Panama competition in 2004.
