The International Coffee Council has met in London at the headquarters of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) to appoint José Dauster Sette as the ICO’s new Executive Director. Sette will cross to the role from his current position as Executive Director of the International Cotton Advisory Committee. Council members said in a statement that the other applicants for the role were distinguished by the excellence of their qualifications and experience. Ultimately though, the decision to appoint Sette was reached by consensus, and he will now prepare to begin an initial five-year term at the helm of the ICO. Sette's appointment comes after the untimely death of his predecessor, Roberio Silva, who passed away at his home in December, 2016.
