Illycaffè has donated six varieties of Arabica to the international organisation for research into coffee development, World Coffee Research, to assist in the preservation of the plant. The varieties were donated at a ceremony at the Fazenda Boa Vista, in Patrocínio, Cerrado Mineiro, Brazil. The delivery of the seeds was facilitated by Experimental Agrícola do Brasil, which carries out research and offers technical consultancy services to coffee producers. The six donated varieties are:
1. Aramosa – hybrid Arabica x Racemosa (F5)
2. Naomi – somaclonal variation (F5)
3. Bourbon Amarelo Short (BAS/Yellow Short Bourbon) – somaclonal variation (F5)
4. Yellow Caturra – somaclonal variation (F6)
5. Bourbon Vermelho Short (BVS/Red Short Bourbon) – somaclonal variation (F4)
6. Mundo Novo de Porte Baixo (MNPB/Short Stature Mundo Novo) – somaclonal variation (F4).
