Move over coffee-in-a-cone, New Zealand's Tasteful Bakehouse has come up with a novel new way to serve its coffee – poured directly into a thickened, chocolate-coated short crust. The concept first came about as something of a joke, with the bakehouse’s owner Chamnan Ly making the first incarnation just for fun. But once that first experiment was posted to social media, it took on a life of its own, with customers seeking the store out to try this new “piefee”. Ly has now added the creation to his menu, selling it at around US$3.50, and has plans to expand the range with new flavours such as cinnamon soon.
