The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) is hosting a breakfast to celebrate the achievements of women in the coffee industry at the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) convention, in Seattle on 11 April. The IWCA’s event Inspiring Change: Make it Happen will recognise and acknowledge the work of women in each aspect of the coffee supply chain. “Aside from the day-to-day struggles women coffee farmers face in order to maintain a respectable standard of living, they also struggle with the gender inequality prevalent throughout the world’s coffee growing regions,” said the IWCA. “Our mission is to empower women in the international coffee community to achieve meaningful and sustainable lives.” Proceeds from the event will be used to fund programs through the IWCA’s 17 chapters worldwide via its Pillars of Success project. The IWCA said its Pillars of Success project is designed to provide the most impact for the more than 600,000 women it represents, while enabling them to positively influence their families and communities. If any company is interested in sponsoring the breakfast they can contact the IWCA to find out how: www.womenincoffee.com
