US coffee roaster JM Smucker has raised the price of its packaged coffee products such as Folgers and Dunkin’ Donuts by 6 per cent. The company says that the price rise is in response to a jump in the price of Arabica futures after a major Brazilian exporter predicted poor Arabica and Robusta crops in 2017/18. The company’s K-Cup pods, which it produces under licence for Dunkin’ Donuts, will not be subject to the price rise. The latest move is effectively a reversal of the company’s announcement in June 2016, when it cut the price of its packaged coffees by 6 per cent due to strong coffee supply.
