Keurig Green Mountain is recalling approximately 7.2 million of its Mini Plus Brewing System units following a recommendation from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Company has received approximately 200 customer incident reports of hot liquid escaping from the units during use, including 90 reports of burn-related injuries. Keurig is recalling approximately 6.6 million coffee machines in the United States and 564,000 in Canada, sold for around $100 from December 2009 through to December 2014. “We are working closely with our retail customers to recall all affected product and we are in the process of fulfilling Mini Plus Brewer orders from consumers and retail customers with a new product that is not affected by the recall,” said Keurig in a statement. According to the CPSC, deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product incidents cost the US more than $1 trillion annually.
