La Marzocco Australasia, which was launched at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo in May, has appointed its first General Manager. Tom Beaumont began his career in luxury hotels and human resources. After working for the Westin and Sheraton Hotels, Tom owned a successful café – an experience that ignited his interest in coffee and continues to inform his relationships with clients. He took on a national training role with one of Melbourne’s oldest coffee companies, Grinders, and later moved on to be state manager of specialty coffee roaster Five Senses Coffee. Beaumont is a certified Q Grader and former state cupping champion. “The coffee industry in our part of the world is dynamic and very well informed,” he said in a statement. “I’m really excited about strengthening La Marzocco’s presence and working with a strong team.” Beaumont’s first weeks will be at La Marzocco’s Out of the Box event in Milan and following that he will be based at the company’s Melbourne site.
