The Songwa Estates partners – La Marzocco, Mahlkönig and Probat – have announced how they will invest money raised from their 2019 Hands for Songwa initiative. Hands for Songwa dedicates a percentage of the three companies’ sales to projects around the Songwa coffee farm in Tanzania. Following the installation of wells in 2017 and 2018, proceeds from 2019 will be donated towards an additional well to ensure that all members of the community residing near the Songwa coffee farm have access to clean water. In 2019, the project will also cover the demolition and reconstruction of a primary school building in a nearby village, the fourth school building sponsored by the partners since 2012. In the second half of the year, in collaboration with local schools and authorities, the partners will organise a campaign to clean the river running near the farm.
