Time is running out to submit an entry application for Coffee Masters New York, with registration closing on 14 August. The team behind The London and Amsterdam Coffee Festival are taking Coffee Masters to New York from 25 – 27 September at 69th Regiment Armory. At the very first New York Coffee Festival, Coffee Masters New York City will adopt the same format as the competition launch in London in May. To enter the New York City event, baristas must submit a one-minute video presenting their signature drink. From the list of international applicants, 20 people will be chosen to test their skills in New York. The competition includes a cupping, brewing, latte art, order challenge, signature drink and espresso blend round. A panel of coffee specialists will be judging the event, including 2009 World Barista Champion Gwilym Davies, Koppi Coffee Roasters’ Anne Lunell, Everyman Espresso’s Sam Penix, Blue Bottle Coffee’s Stephen Vick, and Blacksmith Coffee’s John Letoto. The New York Coffee Festival will launch New York Coffee Week, which will raise money for clean water and sanitation projects in coffee growing communities. Half of the money raised through New York Coffee Festival ticket sales will be donated to Charity Water to support their global projects. London Coffee Masters will also return in 2016, from 7 – 10 April.
