Italian roaster Lavazza has announced plans to open a number of flagship cafés around the world in coming years, beginning with one in Milan in 2018. The announcement of the Milan store comes after US coffee retailer Starbucks announced its plans to open one of its Roastery stores in the Italian city. Lavazza’s Vice President, Marco Lavazza, has said that the company has plans to open stores in up to 15 of the world’s biggest cities over coming years. The Milan store will be located near the city’s iconic La Scala opera house and will offer a full range of coffee styles, in addition to the traditional Italian espresso.
