Marco Beverage Systems announces judges for SP9 Brew Master Challenge

Marco Beverage Systems has launched The SP9 Brew Master Challenge in Australia, challenging baristas to go head-to-head and brew the perfect filter cup on the Marco SP9 Precision Brewer.

The three coffee professionals who will judge the event on 2 December are industry veterans Demelza Jones, Nicole Novak and Harry Ko. They will act as sensory and technical judges, assessing the competitors’ coffee knowledge, pour-over, and demonstration skills.

Jones has been in coffee for about 15 years and has worked in a variety of roles across the industry. According to Marco Beverage Systems, she has a passion for sharing knowledge and empowering women and all marginalised individuals withing the coffee space.

She is currently on the Board of International Women’s Coffee Alliance and of the Equality Project, as well as a community builder at Califia Farms. Jones is also the Founder of SameCup, a company that aims to highlight, connect and empower through various products, platforms and programs in coffee.

Nicole Novak lives in Perth and works with Five Senses Coffee as the Western Australia State Sales Manager. She is a certified Q-Grader and World Brewers Cup judge.

Harry Ko is the 2015 and 2016 Australian Cup Tasters Champion, and placed eighth in the World Brewers Cup in 2022. Ko is a Sample Roaster, QA and Sales Support at H.A.Bennetts and a weekend barista at The Flour Melbourne.

The contest opened at 4pm ACT on Monday 26 September 2022 and closes at 4pm ACT on Monday 31 October 2022. Entrants must be legally resident in Australia and over 18 before 25 October 2022.
