After a momentous 2013 World Barista Championship and World Brewers Cup in Melbourne, the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) has been chosen to host the 2014 World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and World Cup Tasters Championship. The World Latte Art Championship highlights artistic expression in a competition platform that challenges the barista in an on-demand performance. Classic milk and espresso drinks are topped with designs of the barista's creation, with emphasis on taste, replication, and creativity. The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship promotes innovative beverage recipes that showcase coffee and spirits in a competition format. From the traditional Irish coffee to unique cocktail combinations, this competition highlights the barista's skills to perfectly combine coffee and alcohol. The World Cup Tasters Championship awards the professional coffee cupper who demonstrates speed, skill, and accuracy in distinguishing the taste differences in specialty coffees “The ability to foster the growing and vibrant coffee community in Melbourne is an exciting opportunity by continuing our partnership with MICE in their third edition of the event,” said Carl Sara, Chair of the WCE Board of Advisors. “In line with the mission of WCE to produce premiere coffee events around the world, our organization is continually seeking to build long-standing relationships with global partners, such as MICE.”
