Nestlé is seeking to make its operations in the Philippines more sustainable by piloting the use of solar power at its Lipa Integrated Coffee Center (LICC). The photovoltaic system provides power for the irrigation and misting of the coffee seedlings, the water for which is recycled from the company’s neighbouring factory. The LICC produces up to 500,000 Robusta seedlings per year, while also serving as a training facility for farmers. The project was carried out in cooperation with Philippines solar company One Renewable Energy.
