Nuova Simonelli brings 10 barista champions to Russian military music festival

Ten barista champions are acting as ambassadors of specialty coffee on Moscow's Red Square during the annual Spasskaya Tower international military music festival currently taking place until 8 September.  The baristas are using Soyuz Coffee Roasting’s coffees and Aurelia II espresso machines by Nuova Simonelli. The baristas are working at a feature area called the 'Specialty Coffee Show Starring Barista Champions'. The festival is an eight-evening celebration running from 1 – 8 September, featuring concerts, fireworks displays, cultural events and musical performances by military bands, all set against the striking backdrop of the Kremlin. More than 46,000 people are expected to attend, including high-ranking diplomats, celebrities and the business elite. The baristas will share their coffee knowledge, as well as expertly prepared espresso and other espresso beverages. One beverage will include the appropriately named Spasskaya Tower signature drink from last year's event, using coffee from Soyuz Coffee Roasting’s brands on the Aurelia II. The Aurelia II is the 2012-2014 World Barista Championship official espresso machine. During the event, the machine will be featured in red to celebrate Moscow’s Red Square. Participating baristas include 2012 World Barista Champion Raul Rodas from Guatemala and 2011 World Barista Champion Alejandro Mendez from El Salvador.
