Espresso machine manufacturers Nuova Simonelli announced on 9 November the certification of their Q-grading lab, situated at their headquarters in Macerata, Italy. The lab was officially certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America. The first training course will be held from 30 January to 3 February 2012. The course will look into grading, roasting, cupping and brewing, and how to use these touch points to discern quality specialty coffee. The certification of the lab, follows the company’s renewal as the technical sponsor of the World Barista Championships for the next three editions. The Aurelia II T3 has been selected as the official espresso machine. The official announcement was made by Cindy Chang, World Coffee Events Executive Director, at the 75th anniversary celebrations that Nuova Simonelli held during the Host di Milano show at the end of October.
