Since 1868, PROBAT has been a global name in coffee processing technology. Following the acquisition and integration of multiple food technology companies in 2024, it is realigning itself to become more involved in the global food manufacturing sector.
In early 2024, PROBAT acquired American business AC Horn Manufacturing, which builds a range of roasting and coating equipment for foods including popcorn, nuts, and other processed snacks.
Just one week later it also announced the acquisition of Dutch company Royal Duyvis Wiener, which manufactures equipment for cocoa and chocolate processing.
PROBAT says following a year of “intensive technology transfer and successful cross-divisional collaboration”, it can now deliver fully integrated solutions spanning coffee, cocoa, chocolate, nuts, malt, popcorn, and other specialty foods.
CMO Jan Molitor says the full integration of AC Horn and Royal Duyvis Wiener will help establish PROBAT as a world-leader in the food processing industry.
“By uniting these fascinating companies under one strong brand, we have taken the decisive step toward becoming the first point of contact in coffee and food processing,” Molitar says.
“As a trusted partner for expertise, innovation, and reliability, PROBAT transforms even the most complex challenges into lasting solutions that shape the future of our customers’ businesses.”
PROBAT has also launched a new website to showcase its portfolio of equipment.
CEO Wim Abbing says growing the company’s capabilities in the food manufacturing sector has only built on PROBAT’s longstanding legacy.
“At PROBAT, our mission goes far beyond supplying machinery for the coffee industry. We have grown into a leading one-stop partner for customers across cocoa, chocolate, snack, and emerging food segments worldwide,” Abbing says.
“Everything we do is driven by a deep understanding of their unique challenges and aspirations.
“We empower them to deliver top-quality products – day-after-day – with peak performance, resource efficiency, and maximum machine uptime.”
