More than a 100 of the world's coffee market players from almost 40 countries gathered at the Probat Group's headquarters in Emmerich on 7 May for the second Connecting Markets Coffee Symposium. The event took place one day ahead of Interpack 2014, providing participants an opportunity to discuss trends, strategies and global prospects of the coffee industry.
The in-depth lectures covered a broad range of coffee-related topics, ranging from an overview of the booming Japanese Ready-To-Drink Coffee Market, single-serve capsule production in North America and increasing efficiency in coffee production. The lectures were followed by question and answer sessions, and enlightening discussions. Participants were also taken on a tour of the company's state-of-the-art Research & Development Center, which Probat opened less than two years ago.
During the event, Udo Schulte-Lünzum, Key Account Manager at Probat, explained the features of the new two-stage Probat grinder UW 1500.2 for grinding filter coffee and espresso products. Sebastian Kersten, Area Sales Manager at Probat, spoke about the new plant control system from the Pilot Plant series. Kersten explained the numerous functions for improving ease of operation, speed and control. He also provided an overview of the improved data management system with an export function for generating comprehensive statistics and analyses. Probat also presented the new grinder and plant control system this year's Interpack event in Düsseldorf from 8 – 14 May, following on from the Symposium. Interpack is the world's biggest trade fair for the packaging industry and all related process technologies. Participants were able to witness the solid, high-quality design of this new grinder and the efficiency of the new control system, while gaining an insight into Probat's roasting systems. These products were demonstrated at the Probat booth via three-dimensional animations, giving an overview of the process technology of the individual roasting machines.
