Probat has announced it is getting behind Re:co, the specialty coffee symposium being held in conjunction with the Nordic World of Coffee (WOC) in Gothenburg, Sweden. In addition to sponsoring the event, Thomas Koziorowski, Director of Product Technology R&D at Probat, will give a presentation on the precise description and analysis of the physical and chemical changes that occur during the roasting process. The aim of this analysis is to help roasters adjust the roasting process according to the recipe they wish. Re:co, or Regarding: Coffee, is kicking-off one day prior to the WOC show in June. Coffee professionals, scientists and experts in sustainability, business and politics will address the latest in research and innovations in coffee. “People that lead need to be informed,” said Peter Giuliano, Director of the Specialty Coffee Symposium. “Our goal is to bring together these leaders with thought leaders from around the world to discuss the things that are critical to specialty coffee.” Michael Sheridan, Director of the Borderlands Coffee Project, will share the results of a second trial evaluating the difference in quality of Castilla and Caturra varieties. Charles Spence, Professor of Experimental Psychology, will focus his talk on how sound affects the coffee experience. The Specialty Coffee Association of Europe’s Nordic WOC will host the World Latte Art, Cup Tasters, Brewers Cup, Coffee Roasting and Coffee in Good Spirits competitions.
