Rainforest Alliance has launched the first round of public consultation on its new certification standard to improve farmers' livelihoods and landscapes.
Rainforest Alliance merged with Utz in January 2018, and says it’s taking the opportunity to re-examine how its sustainable agriculture certification works. Rainforest Alliance says its public consultation process is an essential step to creating a stronger approach to certification. The future standard will include significantly different rules for smallholders and larger farms, and other large changes. This new draft standard has been published for a first round of external consultation which will be open until 28 February, 2019. It can be viewed here.
