Members of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) are set to vote on the question of whether their organisation should join forces with the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Voting will be open to members of the SCAA from 27 June until 27 July. Members of the SCAE have already voted in favour of unifying the two organisations. The vote is the next stage in an extensive process of consultation and exploration that the two organisations have gone through to sound out the possibility of becoming one. So far the process has progressed through phases of engagement between the two organisations and exploratory talks. Starting in September 2015, the SCAA and SCAE conducted a feasibility study for unification of the two organisations. The findings of the study were presented in December 2015, with the boards of the two organisations deciding in January 2016 to proceed with the unification. Comprehensive voting information is available at scaaunification.org, including a member webinar schedule, videos, member perspectives, SCAE vote outcomes, supporting documents, and other resources.
