The Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) launched a new membership option for non-coffee professionals at The London Coffee Festival on 2 April. Called the Coffee Lovers membership, the new option is open to those not commercially involved with the coffee industry. For £25 or €30 (around US$40), the membership includes a one-month subscription of specialty coffee from UK coffee roasters, via the Blank Box Company; access to educational courses, information and resources; a subscription to SCAE’s biannual Coffee Love magazine and more. “The specialty coffee industry is thriving as coffee aficionados flock to artisan cafés across the globe in a bid to indulge their passion for their favourite bean,” the association said in a statement. “As a trade association, SCAE has spent the last 15 years working with the industry to improve the quality of coffee in producing and consuming countries,” said Membership Manager Jayne Richards in a statement. “But we also recognise the importance of engaging and embracing the most important person within the whole coffee supply chain – you, the consumer. One way that you can help this process is to join our association as a consumer member – Coffee Lover.” The London Coffee Festival is taking place from 3 – 6 April at the Old Truman Brewery in London. It is expecting over 20,000 visitors this year, including a rich mix of coffee professionals and coffee lovers. Coffee lovers can sign up for the new membership at the SCAE stand.
