The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) has announced that Dr Timothy Schilling has resigned from the SCAA Board of Directors and will be replaced by S&D Coffee and Tea’s Tracy Ging. Schilling has relinqushed his role with SCAA in order to dedicate himself fully to his work as Executive Director of World Coffee Research. Tracy Ging, who is the Director of Sustainability and Social Responsibility for S&D Coffee and Tea, will fill the vacant spot left by Schilling. “Tracy’s unique qualifications and expertise will be of immense value to the strategic leadership of the SCAA and we look forward to welcoming her to the Board of Directors,” said SCAA’s Executive Director, Ric Rhinehart, in a statement. Ging’s appointment to the SCAA Board comes at a time when issues of sustainability are taking on increased importance. “SCAA is focused on sustainable development and as such, this is a particularly important time for S&D to enhance its commitment to the organization,” said Ging. “We absolutely share a sense of urgency around issues such as economic viability for smallholder farmers, climate change risks, and the need for more strategic and coordinated approaches.”
