Speciality Coffee and Tea is poised to make a huge debut in Singapore in April, with a diverse program of activities and a vast selection of international brand names that are set to make it the largest and most comprehensive industry event of its kind in the region. Being held as part of Food and Hotel Asia from 8 – 11 April, Speciality Coffee and Tea’s competitions and courses will help to advance the profession through deepening their industry knowledge and the sharpening of technical skills. The FHA Barista Challenge will see national champions from around the region pit their skills against one another. The show will also play host to the first ever FHA Latte Art Challenge. 25 participants will be put through intense five-minute rounds of competition where they will have to prepare as many free pour macchiato and lattes using the grinders, espresso machines, coffee, milk and cup provided, and then choosing only their most creative and best design to present to the judges. Both competitions provide baristas around the region with a regional competitive arena where they not only gain exposure and show off their skills, but also learn from their peers and amass valuable experience. Further value-adding to the investment in people, Speciality Coffee Association of Europe’s Singapore Chapter will be running certified courses for budding baristas seeking to improve their coffee knowledge and techniques. Foundation and intermediate courses on barista skills and grinding and brewing will be taking place at the show. The Speciality Coffee and Tea theatre will feature seminars and workshops by exhibitors. Visitors will get the chance to attend insightful presentations including Introduction to the grading of tea by SereniTEA Infusions; The Monoarabica by Illy; Water for Coffee Lover by Pentair Filtration & Process; Espresso excellence by Illy and Differences between black and green tea and the health benefits of herbal and green teas by SereniTEA Infusions. “In additional, to being a top sourcing platform, we want to deliver an all-inclusive event where the industry can gather for meaningful interaction, to share ideas, best practices and knowledge. With all the various elements of Speciality Coffee and Tea, each visitor will hopefully walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding of what the industry has to offer.” said Project Director for Lifestyle Events at show organiser Singapore Exhibition Services Ms Ting Siew Mui.
