The Specialty Coffee Aassociation (SCA) Sustainability Center will host a third webinar with the Farmer Profitability and Prosperity working group on 15 November at 8am Pacific Daylight Time. Vera Espindola Rafael of Anacafé will moderate the panel with Paul Hicks of Water and Land Restoration for Catholic Relief Services, Peter Roberts of Emory University, and Ivania Rivera of Nicaraguan farmer association Aldea Global. This webinar is part of a series addressing the challenges facing coffee farmers and the sustainability of coffee, especially in light of the current price crisis. Beginning in January, a panel of industry leaders used the literature review the SCA released at the end of 2017 as a starting point to discuss difficult questions related to the profitability of coffee farming. A second webinar on farm profitability was held in September, which the SCA says generated a great discussion both from the panel and from the audience. The first and second webinars in this series can be viewed at www.scanews.com. To register, click here.
