Announced at the Re:co Symposium in Boston, United States, the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is accepting applications for the 2019-2021 Leadership Equity and Diversity (LEAD) Scholarship Program. LEAD aims to increase the diversity of leadership within the global coffee community by enabling access to professional development resources to people from underrepresented or marginalised communities. The SCA says access to benefits of membership and participation in coffee events and education differ for people depending on their identity, background, and access to financial resources. The LEAD Scholarship Program was launched in 2019 with the support of S&D Coffee & Tea to address the inequality. Applications are due 21 June, 2019 at 5pm Pacific Daylight Time and winners will be announced the week of 5 August, 2019. Five scholarships will be awarded in this round.
