The Specialty Coffee Expo will host a range of educational events, when it takes place in Boston, United State from 11 to 14 April. The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) says its Coffee Skills Program (CSP) offers knowledge for every career level. Foundation and Intermediate levels courses titled Introduction to Coffee, Barista Skills, Brewing, Green Coffee, Sensory Skills, and Roasting will be held at the expo. For the first time, the Sensory Skills and Green Coffee foundation CSP courses will be offered in Spanish. A new Coffee Sustainability Program will also be launched at the event. The SCA says for the specialty coffee industry to survive, sustainability must be embraced by all actors in the value chain. This Sustainability Skills Foundation Course is designed to offer baseline knowledge of what the term sustainability means and how it is connected to current and historical events and coffee projects. Attendees will learn the vocabulary and techniques needed to begin assessing their company or organisation’s economic, social, and environmental sustainability as well as that of the industry at large.
