Brady Brewer, CEO of Starbucks International, shares his 2025 predictions for the coffee industry.

This year, we’re refocusing on what has always set Starbucks apart – a welcoming coffee house where people gather and we serve the finest coffee, hand-crafted by our skilled baristas. We know that Starbucks is beloved by many people around the world who visit to enjoy our coffee served by our wonderful partners (employees) and that the brand is woven into the fabric of the communities we serve around the world. We see great opportunities for growth globally and are excited about what this next year will bring for the Starbucks Coffee Company.

More broadly, climate change will continue to be the dominant theme and biggest global challenge in the coffee industry. That is why I am proud Starbucks invests in regenerative agriculture, reforestation, forest conservation and water replenishment to support a healthy coffee future for all. We are focused on helping farmers get the financing they need to support their businesses and families in rapidly changing conditions through our ten Farmer Support Centers and the Starbucks Global Farmer Fund.

We also provide coffee trees that can help farmers adapt to the impacts of climate change and increase their productivity over the long-term – in fact, we have made a commitment to distribute 100 million coffee trees by 2025. To date, we have distributed more than 80 million of the next generation of climate-resistant coffee trees in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico. Additionally, in Colombia, we provide coffee seedlings to farmers and have delivered more than 53 million seedlings as of FY23.

As I look ahead, my hope is for continued partnership with others in the industry to ensure the future of coffee for all. Together, we can support coffee growing communities that face escalating risks while we broaden the positive impact we can make around the world through coffee.
