Starbucks is introducing a novel twist to its coffee, with its newest menu item featuring the fruit of the coffee cherry. The Cascara Latte includes a syrup made from cascara, which is the coffee cherry that surrounds the bean, combined with coconut and cane sugars, which is then combined with an espresso. The beverage is made with milk or a milk alternative, and is finished with foam and Cascara topping, providing a delicate finish to a lightly sweetened beverage. Starbucks said in a statement that the beverage was inspired by the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle, a place where the company experiments with the latest coffee innovations.
