Stronghold Technology has announced its selection as the official production roaster for the World Coffee Roasting Championship (WCRC) from 2024 to 2027. Stronghold previously served as the official sample roasting machine for WCRC from 2015 to 2023.
“For over a decade, we’ve dedicated ourselves to expanding the boundaries of electric roasting technology with a focus on innovation and sustainability,” says Stronghold CEO Jason Woo.
“Serving as the official sample roasting machine for WCRC from 2015 to 2023 and as the official roaster for various national championships globally has been a tremendous honour for us. Being selected as the official production roaster for the esteemed WCRC is a dream come true, and we take great pride in our relentless efforts.”
The WCRC, hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), is the annual World Coffee Championship event that recognises excellence in coffee roasting, evaluating competitors on their coffee evaluation, preparation, blending, and overall skill across practice, sample and production roasts. Stronghold’s innovative S9X roaster, capable of roasting 3 to 8 kilograms per batch, will take the spotlight at the upcoming competition in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 27 to 29 June.
The S9X, operating solely on electricity and featuring a triple heat system for precise control over convection, radiation, and conduction heat, offers a diverse spectrum of coffee flavours. Stronghold has received official recognition in key markets such as Korea, the United States, China, and Poland, having previously served as the official roaster for national roasting championships in these countries.
According to Stronghold, the transition from serving as the official sample roasting machine to the production roaster for WCRC underscores its ongoing commitment to advancing the coffee roasting industry.
