The Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) has announced that SCAE World of Coffee 2015 will tak undefined
e place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 16 – 18 June.
David Veal, Executive Director of World Coffee Events (WCE), said that next years event will host the World Brewers Cup Championship, the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, The World Latte Art Championship and the World Coffee Roasting Championship.
One of Europe’s largest specialty coffee industry events, which took place this year at Rimini Fiera Business Space in Rimini, Italy, was packed with workshops, forums, a trade fair and world coffee competitions.
Over 5000 coffee fans from Europe and around the globe attended the event, and over 57,000 unique viewers watched the competitions live online.
A total of 54 national barista champions, 27 national brewers cup champions and 9 national coffee roasting champions competed in the 15th World Barista Championship, 4th World Brewers Cup and 2nd World Coffee Roasting Championship.
The 2014 World Barista Champion is Hidenori Izaki from Japan, the World Coffee Roasting Champion is Yu-Chuan Jacky from Taiwan and the World Brewers Cup champion is Stefanos Domatiotis from Greece.
SCAE Board Member, Lina Chiodo from BUNN presented the annual SCAE Awards for Excellence.
The SCAE awarded Marta Dalton the 2014 Young Entrepreneur for her drive to be successful in the coffee industry.
The SCAE gave Peter Hernou The Passionate Educator award for his efforts communicating the pleasures of coffee to others.
The SCAE presented Cropster Ltd with The Innovation Award for its efforts in producing something new to promote the quality of coffee
The SCAE gave La Capucas (Cocafcal) the Working Towards Sustainability award and Yiannis Taloumis the Lifetime Achievement award.
