Total coffee solution provider UCC Coffee United Kindom & Ireland has been upgraded to a Grade AA rating in its latest British Retail Consortium (BRC) audit – the highest possible rating. The roastery, based in Dartford, Kent achieved the rating following a two-day inspection. UCC Coffee says the BRC is the leading trade association for UK retailing, and its standards are recognised internationally as marks of quality, and that the grade AA rating is awarded to sites with exceptional site standards. “This is a significant achievement for our Dartford coffee roastery and validates not only our systems and procedures, but also our culture of continuous improvement. It’s been a challenging few months following the fire so it’s important our customers can continue to have confidence in our service and products, as well as achieving the highest-grade accreditation from the BRC as further endorsement of our capabilities and commitment,” says Elaine Swift, Regional Director North of UCC Coffee Europe. In June 2019, UCC Coffee announced plans for its new production facilities at the Dartford roastery. UCC Coffee says the rebuild, which is expected to complete in August 2020, will not only increase production and improve product flow, but will offer teams a new and improved, modern space and a great new facility for its visiting customers. The rebuild follows a £2.5 million (about US$3 million) investment to the roastery in 2015, and planned investment in 2020 to increase production capacity.
