World Coffee Events (WCE) is presenting the first of a series of Coffee Film Festivals in Santa Ana, California on 15 August. The festival will include the world premier of Barista, a film that follows five baristas on their quest to win a National Barista Championship. “Barista takes the viewer on a humorous, emotional and enlightening look into the unimaginable world of coffee competitions and the passionate, lovable and quirky characters that devote their lives to them,” the program says. “If you think you know coffee – this film will make you think twice.” The line-up also includes A Small Section of the World, A Film About Coffee, Aroma of Heaven and Caffeinated. A Small Section of the World is a documentary about a group of coffee farming women who build a micro-mill in Costa Rica. A Film About Coffee follows the production of coffee from farms in Honduras and harvest in Rwanda to its global consumption. Aroma of Heaven explores the world of Indonesian coffee, and Caffeinated tells the story of coffee from the people at each link of the production chain. Caffeinated’s Director Vishal Solanski will attend the event for a Q&A after the film. The Coffee Film Festival will also screen a selection of short films, in addition to the four features and the premier event. The second film festival in the series will be in Vancouver the following weekend. Image by World Coffee Events
